Just remember that Australians where originally the lowest and hardest of British criminals that where shipped far away down under to work and die. But those reservations aside, it would not bother me at all to see someone who has committed that sort of crime swinging from a gallows. As for what is "civilized," I don't know. All I know is that certain crimes cross a line after which, in my mind, the criminal has forfeited all of their rights, including the right to life.

I lived down under for a while. I was even married to one of them. I have witnessed what you would think were sane normal people yell, insult, slap, beat and throw things at aboriginals and Asians for no reason at all. Im talking people in suit or blue jeans just start harassing these people for no reason. And being half Chinese my view was that on a whole, the aussie white population really do not like Asians at all and enjoy doing anything they can to harm or humiliate Asians. Even the people I thought were not racist , would eventually show their true feelings towards Asians and other races. Australians will almost always make you think they are the nicest, most caring people around, until you turn your back.
